  • Ladies of the 80s September 20, 2014
The book takes place in 1980. I’m a total 80′s child, but I was young in the 80′s and only vaguely remember Reagan’s election. John Lennon’s shooting, I remember not at all. It was really fun doing the research for this book, because there were certain mindsets and mores I had to stick to. ForRead more...

I’m so thrilled to have one of my co-authors of the Brought to His Knees anthology here today. Tina Donahue has another release called Carnal Takeover! (Love the title) During the day, she’s in charge—at night, he’ll take command of her body, their desires…   Dominance and discipline. Alexandra hungers for both from Daniel, theRead more...
  • 5 Reasons to participate in an anthology/Box set August 20, 2014
I’ve said it before, this summer is the summer of the box set. Some authors hit some big best seller lists and loads of authors are jumping on the bandwagon hoping to replicate their success. I’m one of them. In fact, I was asked to participate in no less than 3 sets in one weekRead more...

Get it Together Tuesday: Mistress in the Making

This is the shameless plug blog.  I have a new story coming out tomorrow. “Mistress in the Making” will be available from Ellora’s Cave. I’m very excited for you to read this story; it is one of my favorite things I’ve written.

In it, eldest sister, Charlotte makes some tough and sometimes stupid decisions in her attempt to help her family. So let me ask you, what are some stupid things you’ve done for love? C’mon, you know you’ve done them. Fess up.  I’ll go first.

My stupid thing was that I didn’t study abroad my junior year of college. I’d been dating my guy for 2 years, and it seemed too devastating to leave for 6 months. We told ourselves we’d travel when we married.

We did eventually get married (still are), and we have traveled internationally, but it is a totally different experience than living in a foreign country on your own for several months. I definitely regret not going. Our relationship was strong enough to withstand the time apart. And I’ll never be 20 with no children again. What about you? Ever do anything stupid in the name of love?

Click here to read an excerpt of Mistress in the Making and learn what silly thing Charlotte does for love.

Who Would you Do: Brad Pitt

It seems every time I turn around Brad Pitt is sporting a new look. Sometimes he’s clean-cut. Sometimes mountain man, and sometimes urban hipster. So, which Brad gets you in a tizzy? I like Achilles Brad, but I like anything to do with ancient history.

1. Thelma & Louise Brad

2. Fight Club Brad

3. Mr. Smith

4. Vampire Brad

5. Achilles Brad

Get it Together Tuesday: The Cute Meet

Romance authors know that The Cute Meet is paramount to a good start in any romance novel. It can be as simple as crashing carts in the supermarket or singing in a choir together. Some romance examples:

In Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series, Kyrian wakes up handcuffed to his future wife. They’re literally shackled from the start.

In Lisa Kleypas’ “Tempt Me at Twilight, Poppy meets hotelier (and future love interest), Harry Rutledge, when her sister’s ferret escapes to his rooms. She is caught by him sneaking through to catch the critter.

In Kristan Higgin’s “All I ever Wanted,” Callie meets Ian in line at the DMV while she’s sobbing over another man. He gives her a hankerchief.

Do these fun meets happen in real life? If one believes in romance novels (I do), then yes. So, inquiring minds want to know. How did you meet your significant other (current or past- just share the best story).

Here’s Mine:  I was a freshman taking a language course in college to fulfull the requirement. There was a senior in the class who was suspiciously fluent at the language.  ( I later learned he needed to boost his GPA so he was taking the freshman level of a language he mostly spoke. Bastard)  Anyway, one night he called (at midnight) to ask for the homework assignment. I gave him the page numbers, and then he asked me out for coffee. If I had a daughter, I would tell her NEVER to agree to meet a virtual stranger for coffee at midnight, but he was charming and pursuasive, so I changed out of my PJs and we went. We ended up chatting until 3 AM at Kramerbooks & Afterwords. (If you’ve ever been to DC, you know it). He asked me out the next day and the next, and the next, and 14 years later we’re married with 2 children. (Refrain from doing the calculations on our ages, please). We still try to head to Kramerbooks on Dec 3, the anniversary of our first date.

So…tell me. How did you meet your sweetie?

Who would you do Friday: Geek, Dweeb or Spaz

I love me some nerds. I even married one. And thanks to shows like Glee, Freaks & Geeks and Big Bang Theory and events like DragonCon and ComicCon, nerds are ruling the world, as it was meant to be.

So, who would you do?

1. Sheldon

2. Rusty (from Greek)

3. Bill Nye the Science Guy

4. Artie (from Glee)

I love Rusty- he’s the perfect combo of uber smart and endearingly nerdy.

Seeking: One title

Help! Usually titles come to me as I write the book. This one has remained: Elizabeth1.o, Elizabeth1.2 etc…  This is the second book of 4 sisters. Charlotte, the eldest’s story, releases on September 28 from Ellora’s Cave.

Story X starts on the day after Mistress in the Making ends. Here is the blurb:

When retired army captain, Phillip Gordon, inherits a distant cousin’s estate, he anticipates a relaxing country life. Instead he gains guardianship over a dilapidated home and headstrong beauty, Elizabeth, who refuses to obey orders until his dominant tendencies emerge.

Elizabeth is a noted beauty. Like seriously beautiful, and she’s allowed it to define her very being. Phillip is the one man who calls her on her spoiled behavior and commands her respect.  Ideas I have include:

1. Taming the Debutante

2. Claiming his Mistress

3. Mistress by claiming

4. Claimed by the Captain
